Numerical Simulation and Application of Tundish Cover Argon Blowing for a Two-Strand Slab Continuous Casting Machine

During continuous casting, argon blowing from tundish cover (ABTC) can greatly prevent the flow of remaining air and decrease reoxidation molten steel in tundish. In current study, a numerical model based on two-strand slab casting machine was established to investigate feasibility evaluate protective effect ABTC process. The influence operation parameters, including sealing schemes holes rate oxygen content, were studied Then, industrial trials parameters carried out ABTC. results indicate that process has great avoiding increasing levels nitrogen losing titanium aluminum. With applied, average increment (△w[N]) end RH decreases by 90% 10 × 10−6 1 10−6, loss (△w[Ti]) 12.7% 63 55 amount aluminum (△w[Al]) 7.1% 70 10−6. injecting hole baking should be sealed during period empty efficiently discharge air. order ensure volume fraction is less than 1%, ≥220 Nm3/h ≥80 normal casting.
